NetHealth's Online Learning and CME can
Produce Behavior Change and Sustained Knowledge Gains
Online Continuing Medical Education

Properly designed online Continuing Medical Education (CME) can produce changes in physician behavior and learning that are better than traditional methods1. The websites designed and built by NetHealth make a measurable impact on the education of physicians and satisfy the demanding criteria of prominent medical schools and organizations.

NetHealth works with you to design evidence-based online CME programs that produce changes in medical practice and sustained gains in knowledge that are comparable or superior to those realized from live activities.

Our online learning modules are interactive, utilizing engaging technologies such as:

  • Online registration which captures user profiles and can integrate with other systems
  • Video clips of patient encounters or recorded educational activities
  • Audio voiceovers with presentations to engage the learner
  • Interaction questions to help guide the learner to appropriate material
  • Feedback to learners with assessments against peers, national benchmarks, or other data
  • Extensive reports about learner activity
  • Easy-to-navigate online tools
  • CME evaluation and online certificates

Here's how one of our programs typically works:

Before beginning any educational activity, participants fill out an online survey and preintervention assessment form.

Over a period of two or three weeks, participants complete an online CME program that incorporates educational elements such as didactic presentations, interactive cases, and email exchanges with faculty members.

While sections are presented in a fixed sequence similar to a traditional CME workshop, participants complete the online sections at their convenience and are free to revisit program sections whenever they want. This self-directed educational process is believed to reinforce learning and improve outcomes.

To accommodate different learning styles and connection speeds, the didactic sections can be viewed with streaming video, audio, scrolling text, and synchronized slides; with audio and synchronized slides; or with text and slides alone.

A key factor in all NetHealth CME programs are engaging online cases, which include a number of common elements such as:

  • Clinical data summaries that are updated as cases progress
  • Interactive clinical problem solving tools such as an online risk assessment calculator
  • A step-by-step management reference guide
  • Feedback on case management, and
  • Opportunities to forward questions to faculty at any time.

After the learning activity, participants complete the postintervention survey and knowledge assessment. Administrative tools allow monitoring of participant progress, including survey and test completion.

In the month or six weeks following the learning activity, participants have the option of engaging in a live interactive Web conference with faculty. The Web instructor can show slides, pose multiple choice questions, poll the audience and share responses with all the participants. This option provides further reinforcement of the learning and has been popular with participants.

NetHealth's advanced experience with interactive online CME ensures that your program will meet your high standards and educational goals. With a properly structured Website from NetHealth, your organization can improve healthcare outcomes by making measurable changes in physician behavior.
